SASSA SRD Grant January 2026 Update: Website Error to Be Fixed by 30 January

EVENTS SPOTLIGHT

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an official public notice to millions of Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries, confirming a temporary system issue affecting the display of January 2026 SRD COVID-19 grant results and payment statuses.

According to SASSA, applicants may currently find that their application outcomes and payment information are not reflecting correctly on the SRD online portal.

The agency has assured the public that the problem is purely technical and is already being addressed by its IT teams.

SASSA stated that the system error is expected to be fully resolved by Friday, 30 January 2026, after which beneficiaries will once again be able to view their approval status, payment dates, and banking details online.

The agency emphasized that the issue does not affect eligibility decisions or approved payments, and no beneficiary will lose their grant due to the temporary outage.

In its message, SASSA apologized for the inconvenience and reiterated its commitment to paying the right social grant to the right person, at the right time, and in the right place.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to remain patient and rely only on official SASSA communication channels to avoid misinformation and scams.

Once the system is restored, SRD recipients will be able to check their status via the SRD website, WhatsApp line, or the SASSA call centre as usual.
