Steinexpo 2026 Set to Roar as 21 Heavy Machines Take Center Stage in Europe’s Biggest Live Quarry Showcase

EVENTS SPOTLIGHT

IEDER-OFLEIDEN, July 16, 2026—  Europe’s largest live quarry machinery exhibition is preparing for its biggest showcase yet as Steinexpo 2026 returns from September 2–5 with an expanded program featuring 21 heavy machines from 10 leading manufacturers operating live inside Europe’s largest basalt quarry.

Held every four years, the event transforms the active quarry into a full-scale demonstration site where visitors can see excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks, bulldozers, crushers and other heavy equipment working under real production conditions rather than on static exhibition stands.

The centerpiece of the exhibition will once again be the General Demonstration Area, where seven machines will perform simultaneously during 35-minute live demonstrations throughout each day of the event.

Organizers say the action arena has been designed to give visitors an unobstructed view of loading cycles, hauling operations, earthmoving and material processing.

Two grandstands accommodating hundreds of spectators overlook the demonstration zone, while a giant LED screen delivers close-up coverage of every operation.

“Our live demonstrations provide a massive stage for high-performance machinery operating in real quarry conditions,” said exhibition director Dominik Rese of Geoplan GmbH.

Industry Giants Bring Their Flagship Machines

Steinexpo 2026 will feature one of the strongest lineups of construction and quarry equipment ever assembled for a live demonstration event.

Among the major participants are:

  • Liebherr, showcasing four machines including crawler excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and bulldozers.
  • Volvo Construction Equipment, bringing three flagship machines including the L350H Long Boom wheel loader, A50 articulated hauler and EC750E excavator.
  • Komatsu, represented through Schlüter Baumaschinen with its large PC950LC-11 hydraulic excavator and HD605-10 dump truck.
  • Develon, JCB, XCMG, Hitachi, Bell Equipment, Wirtgen, and PTH Products, each demonstrating equipment ranging from electric wheel loaders and excavators to crushers, tractors and recycling machines.

A notable highlight will be the appearance of battery-electric construction equipment, with XCMG demonstrating both an electric wheel loader and electric crawler excavator, reflecting the industry’s accelerating shift toward low-emission quarry operations.

Live Demonstrations Throughout the Quarry

Beyond the main arena, live equipment demonstrations will take place across numerous exhibitor stands throughout the exhibition grounds.

Among the highlights, Zeppelin will showcase advanced Caterpillar technologies including collision avoidance systems and remote machine operation as part of Steinexpo’s innovation initiative, Quarry Vision 2.6.”

The concept emphasizes the growing role of digitalization, automation and machine intelligence in modern quarrying and aggregates production.

A Real Quarry, Not a Trade Show Floor

Unlike conventional construction exhibitions, Steinexpo’s greatest attraction remains its authentic environment.

Instead of polished exhibition halls, visitors walk through an operating quarry where heavy machinery performs real loading, hauling, crushing and earthmoving tasks under realistic working conditions.

The result is one of the world’s few opportunities for contractors, quarry operators, equipment buyers and fleet managers to evaluate machine performance in an environment that closely mirrors day-to-day operations.

The event concludes on September 5 with Steinexpo’s traditional farewell ceremony, featuring a synchronized final machine parade and horn salute from participating equipment.

With dozens of manufacturers, continuous live demonstrations and thousands of industry professionals expected to attend, Steinexpo 2026 is once again positioning itself as one of the most important machinery events on the global quarrying and aggregates calendar.
