The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced the payment schedule for social grants in September 2025.
Millions of beneficiaries across the country can now plan ahead as the dates for Older Persons, Disability, Child Support, and other grants have been confirmed.
According to the agency, payments will be released as follows:

Older Persons Grant – Tuesday, 2 September 2025

Disability Grant – Wednesday, 3 September 2025

Child Support and other grants (including Foster Care, Care Dependency, War Veterans, and Grant-in-Aid) – Thursday, 4 September 2025

Reviewed grants – Friday, 5 September 2025 (for select beneficiaries under reassessment)
SASSA has urged beneficiaries not to rush to payment points on the first day, reassuring recipients that once the money is deposited, it will remain safely in their accounts until withdrawn.
The social grants, which support millions of South Africans, are a lifeline for vulnerable households.
Timely payment remains a top priority for SASSA, especially amid rising living costs.
Beneficiaries are reminded to use ATMs, retailers, and other approved payment channels to avoid long queues at physical pay points.
For any delays or issues, SASSA advises recipients to check their payment status via the official SASSA online portal or visit the nearest branch.
