Aurex Constructors, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is proud to announce that it has been awarded two significant solar photovoltaic projects by ENGIE South Africa.
The solar projects, each with a capacity of 75MW, are part of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Bid Window 5. Both projects have recently reached commercial close.
The solar plants will be constructed at Grootspruit, in the Free State, and Graspan, in the Northern Cape respectively. Mobilisation for both projects is scheduled to commence early in 2024, with completion expected before the end of 2025.
As part of the scope of work, Aurex will be responsible for the detailed design, procurement of balance of plant materials and equipment, as well as the overall construction of the facilities.
This includes civil, mechanical, and electrical works, highlighting Aurex’s comprehensive capabilities in delivering end-to-end solutions.
Aurex, in its commitment to supporting local communities, anticipates employing more than 300 people from the local communities in which each of the projects are located.
These individuals will not only gain employment opportunities but will also benefit from training and development initiatives. Furthermore, the projects will open avenues for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This development is a crucial contribution to South Africa’s national agenda, particularly in addressing the ongoing energy crises and to mitigate the impact of loadshedding.
