Activists in Kenya want work on a northern collector tunnel that is being constructed in the central part of the country to be stopped saying the project is not being carried out as planned.

The activists say that the project will completely divert the entire water flowing from the three rivers as opposed to tapping flood water as designed.

The tunnel is designed to collect flood water from rivers Irate, Maithioya and Gikinyi and direct it to Ndakaini dam, which supplies water to Nairobi County.
