South Africa’s national football team secured a commendable third place at the Africa Cup of Nations finals after defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo in a thrilling penalty shootout at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

The match ended in a deadlock with a goalless draw, setting the stage for a tense showdown that gripped spectators until the very last kick.
