SASSA SRD R370 payments to roll out from 24 to 30 March 2026

Millions of Social Relief of Distress grant beneficiaries can expect their R370 payment this week — but SASSA warns each recipient has an individual payment date, and urges everyone to check their status online before heading out.

EVENTS SPOTLIGHT

CAPE TOWN, 19 MARCH-South Africans receiving the Social Relief of Distress grant can expect their R370 payment to land between Monday 24 March and Sunday 30 March 2026.

SASSA has confirmed the payment window for this month, bringing relief to the millions of unemployed adults who depend on the grant as their only source of income.

Unlike permanent social grants — such as the old age pension and disability grant — the SRD grant does not have a single universal payment date.

Each approved beneficiary has an individual payment date within the confirmed window.

This means your payment may arrive on a different day to that of a family member or neighbour, even if both applications were approved at the same time.

SASSA strongly encourages all beneficiaries to check their payment status online or via WhatsApp before visiting a bank, ATM, or retail pay point.

Bank transfers may take an additional two to three working days to reflect in your account after SASSA processes the payment — so do not panic if your balance has not updated immediately.

How to check your SRD status

Online
Visit srd.sassa.gov.za and click “Check Status” — enter your ID number and phone number to view your payment date.

Save 082 054 0016 as a contact, then send your full name and ID number to get your status.

Download the Moya App — works with zero data. Available on Android and iOS.

Helpline

Email
Send your ID number and query to grantsenquiries@sassa.gov.za for assistance.

Beneficiaries are also reminded to ensure their banking details and ID information are correctly captured on the SASSA system.

Incorrect or outdated information is one of the leading causes of delayed or failed payments. Updates can be made at your nearest SASSA office or via the SRD online portal.

Scam warning

SASSA will never ask for your PIN, password, or banking details via SMS, WhatsApp, or phone call. If you receive any such request, it is a scam.
Report suspicious activity to the SASSA fraud hotline at 0800 60 1011 immediately. Always use official SASSA channels only.

Looking ahead, the SRD grant amount will remain at R370 until at least March 2027 — there will be no increase in April 2026, despite rises across all other grant categories.

Advocacy groups continue to call for the grant to be raised to the food poverty line of approximately R760 per month.
