Preparation for Construction of Hoima Stadium in Uganda has started ahead of Africa Cup of Nation football tournament skated for 2027.
Construction is expected to be completed within 18 months, with a deadline of December 2025. The Ministry of Works and Transport, supported by the newly formed Africa Cup of Nations Sub-Committee on Infrastructure, will oversee the project.
Uganda is one of the country that will be hosting AFCON together with Kenya and Tanzania.
Kenya is constructing a 60,000 seater sports complex which will feature state-of-the-art technology, including top-level TV broadcast capabilities, VAR, and goal-line technology.
Construction of the Talanta stadium is being spearheaded by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the same company that built the 472 km-long Nairobi-Mombasa Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
Tanzania on the other hand is Constructing of a modern football stadium in Arusha.
The construction of the stadium is being undertaken by the China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG).
The company has been operating in Arusha for nearly 20 years, completing over 10 major projects during this time.
