South Africa’s Social Security Agency (SASSA) will raise all social grants by R10 from October 1, 2025, offering a small but meaningful relief to millions of beneficiaries facing rising living costs.
The adjustment follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s two-phase grant increase plan introduced earlier this year.
Revised Grant Amounts:
-
Old Age Grant: R2,320
-
Old Age Grant (75+): R2,340
-
War Veterans Grant: R2,340
-
Disability Grant: R2,320
-
Care Dependency Grant: R2,320
SASSA CEO Themba Matlou called the increase “a targeted intervention to support vulnerable households.”
October Payment Schedule:
-
Old Age Grants: Oct 2
-
Disability Grants: Oct 3
-
Children’s Grants: Oct 6
While modest, the increase is expected to ease day-to-day financial pressures on the nation’s most at-risk citizens.
