The Federation Royal Marocaine de Football (FRMF) has committed their annual FIFA Forward Fund worth USD 2,250,000m (Rwf. 1.86b) to Rwanda Football Federation to finance the completion of the FERWAFA Hotel.
The development was confirmed on Friday on the sidelines of the CAF Extra-Ordinary General Assembly in Rabat, Morocco as FERWAFA President Nzamwita Vincent and CAF Executive Committee who doubles as the President of Morocco Royal Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa signed the pact between the two federations authorising FIFA to complete further payment procedures.
FERWAFA President Nzamwita said, “We are so grateful to FRMF for their financial contribution towards FERWAFA to enable us complete the construction of FERWAFA hotel without securing any loan as it was hoped to be raised from other local banking partners,”
The FRMF President Lekjaa said, “Nzamwita is a brother and a special friend. He is the one that spearheaded the development pacts that we have been signing with so many other football associations in Africa. He has played a pivotal role in bringing along many other friends we would have never have managed to acquire without him. We are so thankful because of him,”

“As we reach this great historical milestone, it’s the first time that a football association of a country has given its annual FIFA fund for a football development initiative of another football association.”
“This is what FIFA President Gianni Infantino has always emphasized by urging capable several associations to assist others who are unable to do so such that we collectively develop the game that we all love. We will continue to support our brother president Nzamwita for the good of our countries,” added Lekjaa.
The FERWAFA Hotel whose construction will cost a tune of Rwf3.85 billion is now going to be fully financed by both by FIFA (65%) and FRMF (35%).
The hotel is part of the FIFA development programme aimed at helping developing countries to establish infrastructure and facilities to boost the growth of the game as well as creating long lasting and sustainable income generation activities.
Upon completion, the hotel is expected to ease on the costs incurred on national teams during residential training or accommodation during several Africa and worldwide competitions.
FERWAFA is also expected to use the hotel for commercial purposes to generate income for different footballing activities
The step taken by both FERWAFA and FRMF follows another binding agreement signed in April aimed at boosting Infrastructure development in the country.
The infrastructure development pact will see FRMF finance the construction of artificial turf stadiums in various districts in Rwanda as well as renovate the existing stadiums.
The first partnership pact was signed in 2015, a year after Nzamwita assumed the leadership of FERWAFA.
This partnership included exchange programmes of technical and administrative staff, hosting of national and club teams from either country by the other, training camps, sharing football knowledge, and offering extensive and advanced medical treatment to injured national team players.
It is through creation of these strategic partnerships and relationships that FERWAFA president Nzamwita believes will help in the betterment of Rwandan football.
