Coral-Sul Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel has arrived at Area 4 in the Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique from Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard in South Korea.
Measuring 432 meters long, 66 meters wide, with about 220,000 tons and with capacity to liquefy 3.37 million tons of natural gas per year, the project is expected to be the first of its kind in Africa. It will be located in the Rovuma basin offshore Mozambique.
During its 25-year lifetime, the project is expected to facilitate $19.3 billion in revenue for the Mozambican State, while additionally meeting global demand for natural gas as well as increasing domestic gas availability in Mozambique.
The production at Coral-Sul FLNG will start in the second half of 2022, and it will contribute to increasing gas availability in the country.
The vessel was built by the concessionaires of Area 4, namely ENH, with a 10% participating interest, Eni, with MRV with 70%, GALP ENERGY and KOGAS, both with 10%.
his project, which has an investment of approximately USD 7 billion, will produce and liquefy 3.37 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of natural gas using resources from the South Coral reservoir.
