Vietnamese construction firm Hoa Binh makes African foray with huge project in Kenya

Vietnamese construction behemoth Hoa Binh group says it has secured a multi million dollar tender to construct social houses in Kenya, a big move as it enters the African construction market.

The 72 million USD will involve construction of accommodation for the police and military forces, and students of the Technical University of Kenya.

Hoa Binh will serve as the main contractor responsible for both the design and construction of housing and infrastructure systems for the projects which total 3,400 apartments.

In addition, Hoa Binh also received invitations to the next round for two other social housing projects in Kenya after passing the survey on the reputation and capacity of contractors conducted by the Kenyan Government. invited to submit design and construction plans for the above two projects.

The total number of apartments in the two projects is expected to be about 6,200 apartments with a value equivalent to 91.6 million USD. If this additional project is awarded, the total value of Hoa Binh’s social housing construction contracts in Kenya will reach 163.6 million USD.

Mr. Le Viet Hai – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Binh Construction Group shared, “Africa currently has more than 50 countries and territories, considered the largest and most potential construction market in all continents in the world.

In the immediate future, Hoa Binh will focus on the contracting segment to build social housing projects, then move on to constructing more high-end projects.”

The win comes hot in the heel of a recent visit to Kenya by Hoa Binh led by its chairman on what they called a benchmarking tour.

Established in 1987, Hoa Binh is a general contractor in the field of civil, industrial and infrastructure construction with with an impressive portfolio in Vietnam.
