The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its official payment schedule for social grants in January 2026, ensuring beneficiaries know exactly when to expect their funds.
According to SASSA, payments will be made over three consecutive days, with different grants being credited on specific dates:
-
Old Age Grant: Tuesday, 6 January 2026
-
Disability Grant: Wednesday, 7 January 2026
-
Children’s Grants (including Child Support, Foster, and Care Dependency Grants): Thursday, 8 January 2026
This schedule forms part of SASSA’s regular monthly payment cycle for the 2025/2026 financial year. Beneficiaries are reminded that funds are accessible from the date credited and remain available until withdrawn or used.
Additionally, recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant should note that their payments usually follow a separate schedule, typically later in the month, around 24–30 January 2026.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their individual SRD payment status via the SASSA portal or USSD services.
SASSA continues to stress the importance of beneficiaries checking their accounts regularly to avoid missing payments and to ensure funds are accessed safely.
