The country’s construction industry needs to make heavy investments in alternative building technology and materials.

Speaking in Nairobi while  announcing the upcoming event National Construction Week that will run from November 7, head of National Construction Authority(NCA, Maurice Akech said that this will allow increase of production of off-site components such as wall panels and floor slabs that will be delivered to housing construction sites when needed.

“The alternative investments will allow and afford the country to meet its ambitious housing plan provided by the government and as a result solve the housing shortage in different part of the country”, he says.

Mr Akech observed that it was difficult to  scale stone based construciton due to unpredictability of material prices.

This investments will allow Developers and Investors to get approval from the authorities and then hand it over to the building manufacturer where they can bargain for favorable ex-factory prices.
